Adding the GARAN-Label and legal guarantee notice on Amazon
An honest look for professional Amazon sellers: what to consider when adding the label on a marketplace where you don't control the product detail page layout yourself, and where open questions remain.
As of 8 July 2026, Amazon has not published an official specification for how the legal guarantee notice or the GARAN-Label must be displayed on product pages. The legal requirement still applies from 27 September 2026 regardless. As a marketplace seller, responsibility for correct labelling lies with you as the merchant; for Amazon Retail (sold directly by Amazon) this may be handled differently. A fully satisfactory technical solution for displaying it on Amazon doesn't exist yet. This page is a recommendation based on the current market situation, not legal advice.
Why the GARAN-Label can't be a product image
The GARAN-Label is product-specific additional information, not a product photo. It doesn't belong in the product image gallery, it belongs in the information area of the product page, where customers are meant to be informed transparently about brand, model, and guarantee duration before buying. Amazon's image guidelines are also built around unaltered, isolated product shots. A label with text, a logo, and a QR code doesn't fit that category.
A+ Content as a possible approach, with an important catch
Amazon's A+ Content lets you add extra image and text modules to the product page, and would make sense from a placement perspective. However, Amazon's A+ Content policy explicitly prohibits words like "warranty" or "guarantee" and references to external refund policies in text or images. Since the GARAN-Label displays exactly that kind of information, it's currently unclear whether or how a compliant implementation via A+ Content can be achieved. What a practical solution for Amazon will end up looking like remains to be seen for now.
